FILMCOLLECTV

A COLLECTIVE FOR CREATORS
WHO ACTUALLY MAKE FILMS

WHY WE EXIST

Because the dream has always been: make movies with people you love, get them seen, and get paid.

Simple.

But most “collectives” stop at the first two and ghost you on the last part.

At Filmcollectv, we believe in creative freedom AND fair compensation.

Here’s the deal:

•Every project we make lives on the YouTube channel.

•Once we’re monetized, 50% of net ad revenue from each episode goes straight back to the people who made it happen. The other 50% goes into reinvestment.

•Screenwriters, directors, producers, actors, crew — you all get a cut for your work on each project based on a points system. No fractions. No fine print.

•You don’t get “exposure.” You get credit, community, and compensation.

Why we're different

•We don’t "plan" forever. We don’t “front”. We make stuff happen.

•We’re not some corporate “creator incubator” sucking up your IP. You keep your credit, Filmcollectv keeps the channel.

•We don’t waste time. Every project is lean, cinematic, and built for YouTube’s hungry beast of an algorithm.

•We’re collective, but not chaos. There’s structure, there’s leadership, and there’s an actual plan to grow this thing into LA’s most exciting new hub for indie entertainment.

Our work

Apply now if you’re a:

•Screenwriter with bold ideas.

•Director ready to take the reins.

•Actor eager to perform.

•Cinematographer, editor, sound designer who live to make scenes shine.

•Co-Producer, AD, or PA who keeps the circus moving.

•Just someone who gives a damn about making movies.

So Here’s the Invite

If you’re tired of waiting for the call that never comes, if you want to get your hands dirty, and if you want to build something bigger than just another short collecting dust on Vimeo — Filmcollectv is where you should be.

This isn’t just about content. It’s about creating a new ecosystem of collaboration in LA.

A space where the future of indie entertainment is born — not in a studio boardroom, but on the streets, rooftops, and backlots of this city.

FAQ

1. What is Filmcollectv?

Filmcollectv is a film collective in LA where writers, directors, actors, and crew get together to make short films, web series, and experimental content. We’re not a film school, not a studio, and not your mom’s basement project.

2. Why should I care?

Because you actually want to make films, instead of talking about it. And we’re the ones building the playground where that happens.

3. Do you pay people?

Yes. Once our YouTube channel gets monetized, 50% of the net ad revenue from a project goes  straight back to the people who worked on that project.

4. What happens to the other 50%?

That half goes into reinvesting in the collective — gear rentals, locations, expendables, catering, post-production, future projects. Basically, the boring but necessary stuff that keeps us alive and lets us keep making films without begging rich uncles for cash.

5.  How does this “points system” work?

Each role on a project gets points (think: tokens). Screenwriters, directors, producers, leads, and heads of department get 2 points. Everyone else gets at least 1 point. When money comes in, we divide the project’s 50% share by total points and pay out. No fractions. No screwing around.

6. Wait, so does everyone get paid the same?

Not exactly. Bigger responsibilities (like screenwriter, director, producer, leads) get 2 points. Some crew and talent get 1 point each. It’s fair, simple, and no one gets shafted.

7. Do I own what I make with Filmcollectv?

You own your credit. Filmcollectv owns the channel. We keep the content under our banner so the collective grows as one brand, not a scattered mess of side projects.

8. What if my idea blows up and becomes huge?

Awesome. You still own your credit and bragging rights. Filmcollectv owns the channel distribution. If Netflix calls, we’ll talk — but the goal is to build together, not screw anyone.

9. Do I have to be in LA?

Yes, mostly. We shoot here. If you’re remote, you can still collaborate as a writer, editor, or designer, but the hub is Los Angeles.

10. How do I join?

Hit the big fat “Apply Now” button, tell us what you do, and we’ll pull you in when projects match your skills.

11. Do I need experience?

No. You need drive. If you’re brand new, you can still jump in as a PA, assistant, or learn by doing. Everyone starts somewhere.

12. Who’s running this thing?

Filmcollectv has producers and directors who keep the circus moving. But it’s a collective — we’re not dictators. Everyone has a voice, but someone has to call “action.”

13. What kind of stuff are you making?

Shorts, web series, experiments, music videos, cinematic YouTube content. Basically, stuff that’s exciting to watch and fun to make.

14. How do you pick projects?

Writers pitch, the collective votes, and producers greenlight based on feasibility (budget, locations, cast). If it’s insane but doable, we’ll probably try it.

15. Is this a school?

Nope. You’ll learn by doing, but this isn’t a classroom. It’s the real deal.

16. Who owns the behind-the-scenes footage?

We do. BTS, promos, and making-ofs belong to Filmcollectv and don’t pay out. Your compensation is tied to the actual final project you worked on.

17. What if I don’t like something I’m asked to do?

Say no. You’re not a slave. Everyone has the right to decline. Use your brain and keep yourself safe.

18. Who’s liable if something goes wrong on set?

Not the producer. Everyone’s responsible for themselves. We’re grown-ups here. Protect yourself, don’t be reckless, and act like a pro.

19. What happens if someone acts like an a**hole?

They’re out. No drama, no second chances. Respect is non-negotiable.

20. What’s the endgame here?

To make Filmcollectv the go-to hub for independent, badass, LA-born entertainment. To create a space where filmmakers actually make stuff, get paid, and stop waiting for permission.
